Our therapeutic and treatment foster care program focuses on children and youth aged 7 to 18 with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), each with unique needs and incredible potential. Whether they require specialized support, a safe and stable environment, or simply someone to believe in them, your role as a foster parent is invaluable.
Your Journey: Starting the Process
Becoming a Foster Parent with Envoi Associates in Colorado​
Embarking on this journey requires meeting the following qualifications:

Age: Must be 21 years or older

Residence: Live in Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer, or Weld County. Exceptions may be made for individuals residing within one hour of Loveland, CO, with Envoi approval. Must be in CO.

Income: Have a stable income to cover household expenses.

Home Environment: Provide a safe, caring, and affirming home for all children/youth, including LGBTQIA+ and transgender youth.

Transportation: Possess a reliable vehicle with a valid Colorado driver’s license and insurance.

Background Checks: All household members over 18 must pass criminal background checks (cost covered by Envoi).

Training: Complete 60 hours of training, including First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration (QMAP), Crisis Management, and other agency-specific trainings (cost covered by Envoi).

Note: ​If you live with a partner, they are also required to complete the training and certification process.

Support System: ​Having additional support in your home or community for emergencies is preferred.
